The HeyDay & Broadband Shortwave

By now you know that The Garage does not give away Saturday gigs to anyone!  The best local bands make Saturdays special.  Occasionally we bring in groups that are not widely known across age and social groups in Billings but who are hugely popular elsewhere.  The HeyDay and Broadband Shortwave are such bands you do not want to miss.  Allie Moncure, the Garage's Foreign Artist Critical Review Specialist put The HeyDay on top of her all-round favorites list.  From Denver, this young group is instrumentally hot and kicks out hand-crafted Indie-ilk songs but is also reminiscent of Ryan Adams, Phil Collins, Randy Newman, and the Gin Blossoms.  In other words, the appeal factor is quite wide.  The Helena- popular Broadband Shortwave returns for a second Garage visit with sharp and catchy tunes and a compatibility to make a performance you won't want to miss.          [Heyday]                              [Broadband Shortwave]

REVIEW -
In January 2007, near the end of the recording process, Westword ’s music editor Dave Herrera got wind of the songs and featured the Heyday in his "Class of 2007" feature. Herrera deemed the band the next-generation Fray- only six live performances into their career- claiming he’d " found a promising new group to trumpet from the mountaintops...this one in particular has all the makings of becoming the next Mile High sensation to sweep the nation…," and calling the record the "epitome of radio-friendly power pop." Match that with strong support from Denver’s 93.3 KTCL, the station many claim to be responsible for the record label successes of Colorado acts the Fray, Meese, Single File, and Tickle Me Pink, and the Heyday’s future appears bright.
